Western Forestry Co-op are proud to have developed the first Pioneer Birch New Native Woodland Project in Ireland under the DAFM funded Native Woodland Scheme in the Maam Valley, Galway with local farmer Michael Laffey, this project was a labour of love and a joy to be involved with and we are proud of how it is establishing. The Pioneer Birch Woodland Scheme allows more sensitive areas such as highly modified peat (reclaimed) and peaty podzols be planted with native woodland.
